Marie manages a care home in Doncaster and has recently taken on 15 new members of staff to meet the demand created by the addition of a new wing of bedrooms to the facility. To introduce the new staff to the existing team and to help everyone to get well-introduced, she planned to host a casual team-building event. The event was set to include a virtual escape room, a quiz, and a delicious buffet lunch served by Hog Roast Fishlake. After looking through our menus, it was decided that a classic hog roast would be ideal for the occasion and our catering manager Steven was happy to get involved.
When the day of the event arrived, Steven and the Hog Roast Fishlake team arrived at the care home in the morning to set up our catering station and get to work. The menu was set to be served at 1:00 pm and the hog needed around 6 hours to slow-roast to perfection. Once the pork was ready, it was expertly carved and served in fresh bread rolls, with gluten-free rolls also on offer. The delicious main dish was accompanied by sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, and crispy crackling, as well as homemade chips and a fresh green leaf salad. Altogether, this created a delicious buffet lunch for the staff to enjoy and provided a great bonding opportunity for chatting and mingling.
