Summer camps are a great way to keep children and teenagers busy for a week or two during the summer holidays. Camps often focus on a key theme, such as acting, dancing, sports, crafts, or learning, to appeal to a certain group of children. As well as enjoying activities and games, it can also be fun to host challenges and competitions, followed by an awards evening for parents and children to enjoy. Here is one example of a delicious menu that Hog Roast Tickhill can serve at your awards evening…
A local summer camp in Doncaster was coming to an end and wanted to host an awards night for the final evening. The camp was hosted for children that enjoyed dance and gymnastics and combined the two with music to create fun routines for children of all abilities. Throughout the course of the camp, challenges and competitions had been hosted in preparation for the awards evening. To make the night feel even more special, our catering manager Steven had been hired to provide a classic hog roast to the guests, with a few added extras.
On the day of the awards evening, the Hog Roast Tickhill team arrived at the camp in the morning to prepare our dishes for the 6:00pm mealtime. We began by slow roasting the hog and ensuring that i0t was cooked to perfection, while also grilling some succulent pork sausages and veggie alternatives. The mains were served in fresh bread rolls, with gluten-free rolls also on offer. For the side dishes, we served homemade chips, sage and onion stuffing, fresh applesauce, and crispy crackling, as well as a selection of seasonal salad dishes. Overall, the menu had plenty for everyone to enjoy and the menu went down a treat with the children and adults.
